So March I don't even really remember at this point. It feels like it was a long, long time ago. Thankfully I started this post with pictures about 3 weeks ago. So we'll see what can jog my memory.
The second half of the month was rainy and cold. It rained and rained and rained. It would go from 60 degrees one day to a winter weather advisory the next. Either way, it was ugly.
Apparently there was a work stoppage of teachers in March - that seems like way longer ago. So we took to watching Great American Bake Off something-or-other while we were home. This is Sophie's version of a kiwi cake with a raspberry glaze. It was not good.

Ben usually spends a long weekend in Charleston for the high school boys basketball tournament. He always told Ted when he was in middle school he would take him. True to his word, Ted spent the weekend in Charleston. He spent a lot of time watching either high school boys basketball or the first weekend of the NCAA tournament. He had more Sprite, wings and bufftons than I care to think about. He was voted on and off the island throughout the weekend, but eventually scored himself a ticket for life. This is the only picture Ben took the entire weekend - Ted and Reagan watching some sort of show on the iPad. Apparently Ted makes a pretty good zombie, too.
My master Work Crew assignment project.
The WV YL Staff women & spouses went to a retreat at Glade Springs. We stayed an extra night to sleep in, have a slow start to the the day and enjoy great time together. This weekend away with these ladies was a total gift!
Sweet Amos joined us at the retreat and was a real treat. That kid can go anywhere!
While at the retreat, I found these slides in my suitcase. They've been missing since probably the beach last year. Makes sense. Ted has outgrown them and now they are mine.
The Kozels called while Ben was at Assignment Team Training. They won a tv in a raffle and didn't have any use for it. They knew our tv had a huge stripe down the center so they ever so generously passed the tv along. The kids very much enjoyed the box. Old habits die hard.
Emily came to Morgantown for a quick visit. I love these girls so much. We had dinner at Oliverio's and watched history as #16 seed UMBC upset #1 Virginia. This picture represents 25+ years of friendship (what?!?!) and a lot of life lived. I'm deeply grateful for them. We missed you, Carissa!
Marshall and WVU played each other in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately, it was a 9:30 pm game on a Sunday night. Ot Elmore trending on Twitter was a total Monday highlight, though. It was win/win for WV no matter who, won, but we're glad WVU got the upper hand.
We celebrated Michelle's upcoming marriage with a wedding shower in a Himalayan Salt Cave (no joke!) and dinner out. What a fun day to be together and celebrate all that God has done in the last 8 years. We're grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside each other in the depths of life.
This was pretty much March. 59 degrees today. Winter Weather advisory tomorrow. We thought it might stop going into April, but no. Not even close.
Sophie's teach, Mrs. Sunyak, had a baby right before the teacher strike. She came to a pancake breakfast at the school so Sophie whipped her up a baby blanket! It was a sweet gift and Sophie was excited to give it to her. Having a long-term sub (who is fresh out of college) right after the teacher strike through the end of the year has been a challenge. Between December 22 and the end of March we had ONE full week of school. No two-hour delays, early dismissals, snow days, arctic academy days, spring break or strike days. ONE WEEK in three months. This school year is pretty much off the rails.
Ben and I went with Derek and Lisa to Pittsburgh for an overnight trip and a Penguins game. This is the only picture I got. Gah! We had an awesome dinner out Saturday night, stayed in downtown Pittsburgh and watched a great Pens game from great seats. I'd never been before. I'm not much of a live sports fan - I need commentators to tell me all I need to know - but this was really fun to watch.
We went to the Kozels cabin Easter weekend. It was AWESOME! We arrived Thursday night and stayed until late Saturday afternoon. It was all the things good weekends are made of....
No Cell Phone Service.
Naps.
Big Breakfasts.
Games.
Easter Eggs.
Mud Pies.
Sitting around the fire. (You'd never guess by their attire but it was a chilly 50 degrees.)
Darts.
Long walks.
Fishing.
Lots of laughing and good friends.
And a little work in the middle.
It was a spectacular weekend we hope to repeat again very, very soon!
So March came in like a lion and went out like a lion.
