4th of July

On the 4th of July we went to the Charleston Festivities. We started with the symphony down by the river. Ted has never seen the symphony but we thought that he would love it b/c he loves music so much. He did enjoy it a lot and loved the flag they gave out to kids and the light up necklace thing gave him passing by. As you can see from the picture, Sophie slept through all of it.
We were most excited to share fireworks with Ted. A storm was coming so as soon as the symphony was done we started heading the several blocks to the car and they started the fireworks early. Ted literally crawled up me and didn't even need me to hold on. He was absolutely terrified. All he wanted to do was sit in the van. Sophie slept through the whole thing. I guess you have to start them a little younger. The entire way home though, Ted told us all the different colors of the fireworks and that they said, "Bang!" He woke up the next morning talking about it!

Fun Days at the Park

We went to the park today with our friends the Sawhook's. Rachel babysat Ted this school year. She has a daughter (Kennedy) a year younger than Ted. Ted and Kennedy (not to be confused with Ted Kennedy) have become good buddies. Rachel had a little boy (Jaxen) about three weeks after Sophie was born. So Ted and Kennedy played together at the park and fed the ducks while Jaxen and Sophie napped hard in their carseats. The Sawhook's are moving to Charlotte soon. We will dearly miss them.

I Want to Get Married, Mommy!

This weekend was my brother Charlie's wedding. Ted was the ring bearer. He got to wear a little brown tuxedo and was so proud to look so handsome. During the rehearsal, Ted didn't want to walk down the aisle. But about halfway through, he decided that he wanted to "get married." So, I showed him that getting married meant walking down the aisle.

On the big day, he got to the head of the aisle and freaked. I told him that it was ok if he ran. Ben was pastoring the wedding and knelt down up front. Ted took off down the aisle and fast as his little legs would carry him. Now when we ask him about the weekend, he says that he "got mawwied" and "runnd" down the aisle.

It was an eventful weekend. The best part was the pump breaking on the well at my parents house - no water. None. Ben performed his first wedding and did a fabulous job. He was also the DJ. A man of many talents.

Charlie's reception was one of the most fun things for me. It was amazing to watch him and his friends - some that he had known all his life. In their relationships, I saw guys who would give their right arm for one another. And all that country music!!! You know how sometimes you take a mental picture in your head and it's something you won't forget? Well, I don't think I'll ever forget Charlie and his friends, standing in the middle of the dance floor, holding up their beer cups, singing the Morgantown song
