So a couple of weeks ago we had an official blizzard. Wednesday we had a 2 hour early dismissal for about 3 inches of snow that came through right at 4pm. (While we were at Disney there was a snow that came right at 4pm and Morgantown was in total gridlock. Kids were on busses and at schools well past 9pm. I'm guessing they didn't want another repeat of that.) There was no school Thursday and no school Friday in anticipation of the blizzard that was coming.
The anticipation and frenzy was real all week. These sorts of pictures were all over social media. How hilarious is this? It ranges from 3-24 inches!
The official total for Morgantown was 21 inches! The second biggest snowfall in Mon County history. It was an impressive amount of snow.
Check out the Eastern Panhandle 42 inches! Dang! The news was telling about how a week later most of the roads were finally plowed.
Friday the public schools and WVU were closed in anticipation. Some of the leaders came to the park by our house for some snow football at 3pm. (It was supposed to start around noon.) They played in old snow and it started spitting snow when they left around 5pm..
It didn't really start snowing until after dark. This was around 11:00 pm. We took Millie out for a quick walk around the neighborhood in the quiet. It was so beautiful and we could hear the snow falling on the trees.
It was really, really windy. And cold.
Saturday morning we had about 14 inches and it continued to pile up all day. We played in the snow on and off all day. The kids dressed themselves and came in and out as they pleased. It was most excellent.
This was the middle of the street we live on!
The first couple of days it was actually kind of hard to walk around it because it was so darn deep.
I don't know what this was about, but it was just funny!
Church was cancelled on Sunday we each did devotions and then shared what we learned.
We did a few chores. You know how you always mop while sitting in a chair.
Sunday mid-morning. No plows came through for almost 24 hours.
The sun came on Sunday late afternoon so Ben dug out the van. We finally dug out the car on Wednesday. For about 3 days the city was hauling away dump trucks full of snow from downtown so there could actually be places to park.
After the roads cleared a bit more on Monday we made our way to the Kozels for some sledding and tunnel digging. As the days when on it got warmer and warmer and made for some wet snow playing.
10 days later it's been pretty warm (in the high 50's for several days in a row) and yesterday there were still some piles of snow hanging around. It was fun to have a few days of things standing still, all the neighbors being out and finishing up the Star Wars series. But after 2 weeks of Christmas break, 2 weeks in Florida and 2 weeks of snow days, 2 hours delays and early dismissals, we have been craving routine.
