saranac: weeks 3 & 4

Weeks 3 and 4 were the absolute best at Saranac. Everyone was in their groove work-wise, the weather was perfection (low to mid 80's and no humidity), and we (the mom's and kids) played hard. I also broke out the camera more and documented way more than the first two weeks. So in no particular order and probably way too many pics:

We wanted to get a family pic on country night. This was us laughing so hard at David Berg.

We took the pontoon boat out one afternoon and did some rock jumping in the rain. We tried some fishing on the way back.

Mary hauled in this Northern Pike. Whoa!

Compared to Sophie's teeny fish!

The kids got a turn in the zorb used at the volleyball tournament.

The Family Hoe Down

Ben, Drees, Mike & Phil after a darn good hoe down and fruit smash.

Ted after the fruit smash.

Ben giving his best at Rindercella

One of my all time faves!

Susie and I took the leftover BBQ chicken to make the BEST buffalo chicken dip. We also took wings on Night 4, chocolate chip cookies on Day 6 and cake for cake balls on Day 5.

I gave my kids a tab at the snack bar. They tended to get slush puppies or smoothies and then put them in the hot sand and go swim. Neither of them really drank them when they were actually icy!

Sweet Jameson and Drees

Ted planning a rave for the assignment team kids.

Swagways (hover boards) were a definite highlight. And when you're so good at them you have to think up new ways to ride them.

The kids went through the obstacle course Week 4.

There's an indoor carousal in Saranac Lake. All the animals are carved from wood and are animals that live in the Adirondack mountains. Pretty cool!

Ted waiting at the welcome for Mountaineer Area to arrive.

We sat around this kitchen counter every night. We talked, we ate (a lot) and we prayed to close the night. I love these people. Once we tried to sit in the living room instead of being in the kitchen. We only made that mistake once.

We had a lovely deck!

This picture wouldn't flip. Sam Post did not like that my blanket said Rockbridge!

I can't even explain this picture. But Phil was a champ this week!

Ted, Sophie, Mary and I hiked Baker Mountain. It was a good hike and more than we expected.

With great views.

We picniced at the top.

There was a lot of crafting and finger nail painting (by the young and the old) at the kitchen counter.

Watching the rodeo.

50's night tableau

Mary & Ted were great dancers for the tableau.

The kids got to tube again on our Week 3 afternoon off.

We had a Tuel/Berg Family wiffle ball game that went into extra innings. Wiffle ball was a large part of our month!

These kids are the best!

Sophie dragged this thing around the last couple of days for her own personal comfort at outdoor meals.

The Sam Post Memorial Swagway Derby
You guys, I was winning until the doorway. And then I totally lost it for our team. Please note the team names.

Post Optional Tournament Sell

Ted's slumpy shoulders after many days of no fish.

And then he caught 11 in about an hour and his tune changed.

Except he would never hold it . . .

Sophie was all about holding her own fish.

The Berg Scouts
Scott wins the the award for patience in helping other kids fish. God bless him.

We LOVED the kayaks that we had behind our house. So fun!

The A-Team Ladies spent an afternoon on the boat.

Some jumped off Tommy's Rock. The Berg's and the Tuel's jumped off on a rainy day so there are no pictures to document. It's higher than it looks.

We ran out of gas so the Whaler had to come rescue us. But then it broke. So one of the ski boats had to come rescue both of us. Classic!

Mary got a nice seagull poop on her ear at dinner.

And Sophie cried because the seagulls ate her food. Dumb seagulls.
