christmas recap 2016

We had a great Christmas with not nearly enough pictures. Here's what I've got.

Christmas break started at 1:30 pm Thursday. Joanna is a saint and iced cookies with the kids while we had our staff Christmas dinner on the eve of the eve of Christmas Eve. Emoji's were a hot item this year in cookie decorating world.

Then we continued our tradition of going to see the house with the programmed Christmas lights and walking the Westover crazy house. We told them we would still do this even when they came home for Christmas break when they are in college. We like to give them as much notice as possible.

On the Eve of Christmas Eve we had drinks and played cards and Jim was in town. But no pictures of the adults. We did pound a gallon of chex mix though. I am a terrible euchre player even though both of our families have played it for years. I'm getting there.

On the Eve of Christmas Eve we also did the Tuel family Christmas. The kids came downstairs and snuggled with their stockings until we were ready. Ben making a pour over coffee definitely is a struggle on Christmas morning.

Ted got a hover board! He's been wanting one forever. He gave us all his birthday money and we added that to the price. He is so excited! He makes it look so easy. And it is super fun!!

Again, so sad with the pictures. Ted also got tickets to two WVU basketball games. Sophie got tickets to Disney on Ice. Ben got a trip to the WVU Bowl game. I'm getting my living room painted! Yahoo!

Ben played drums on Christmas Eve at 3 services and we left for New Martinsville after that. Because our Christmas Eve was full, that's why we decided to our Christmas on the eve of Christmas Eve. We got to spend the whole day playing with our new things and games, napping and spending the evening with the Kozels.

Christmas Day morning is traditionally spent with Ben's family. My family usually comes in for lunch, but Dad wasn't feeling up to it this year. It's a nice tradition that we have. We got to see Isaac for a little bit.

We played a fun game that involved saran wrap, dice and lots of screaming and yelling.

Roxie hated all of it (and us)!

We thought it was warmer than it actually was. So the Tuels and the Tuels tried to play at the park and take turns riding the hover board. We didn't last long.

The Steelers played Christmas Day but on the NFL network. After a lot of tries, Ben finally got it on his iPad. So we watched it with my parents that way. It was a memory!

Doh got Google Home for Christmas. The kids had lots of fun talking to "OK Googles".

We had a nice game of Ticket to Ride. And did you see Ted's new neon fleece?

Aunt Sara got Sophie some big kid art supplies.

My entire family was together. It was about 60 degrees and a beautiful day the day after Christmas. We built a fire and Charlie cooked us up some serious shrimp and ribs!

Ben and Andy drove to Orlando for the WVU Bowl game (which was pretty much terrible).

They stayed with my aunt and uncle and got the grand tour of The Villages. Ben has a new vision for retirement.

They spent 32 hours in the car over a 3 day period.

Then we hopped in the car for a quick trip to Charleston for Lizzy's New Years Eve wedding.

We got to spend at least part of New Years Eve with the Santens. I think that we've spent more NYE's with them than anyone else over the years.

Sophie and Ted loved snuggling with Tory and even made it to midnight.

The kids also had a fun sleepover with Roxie and Henry.

This picture (heart emoji).

We have one more day of Christmas break. The tree is down. The Christmas stuff is put away. We plan on soaking up a day of football tomorrow. With Ben gone most of the week and then the wedding this weekend, we've watched far less football than our usual Christmas Break intake.

PS - Christmas and New Years on the weekend is not cool. I like it much better during the week.
