Ted turned 12 in October. TWELVE. Every once in awhile, I have a moment where I look at my life and wonder how in the world I'm the parent of a twelve year old and drive a mini-van, pay bills and am responsible for these people? When did I grow up? How has all of this flashed before my eyes?
During his eleventh year of life, Ted started middle school, ran cross country, conquered some anxiety, found some books he liked to read, saw a solar eclipse, starting taking his friends to WyldLife, started percussion, played the trumpet quite well, lost his beloved dog, drank milkshake off a table, ran his first 5K, went to Washington, DC, hosted a Super Bowl party, and purchased a hover board. It was a good year!
This kid right here is one of a kind. He's kind and thinks of others. He likes having the four of us all under one roof and doing things together. His love language is quality time followed ever so closely by words of affirmation. He loves to ask questions and has a conscience that I hope stays around forever. Just like last year's 11th birthday instagram post, he loves all things outdoors, sports, music, dancing, tall socks and neon clothes. He's a leader with a kind heart. And check out that smile!
For his birthday he asked to take Sam, Cooper & Wyatt to the Pittsburgh Science Center. So the four of us took a little road trip and had a great day together!
We ended the day with man size burgers and milkshakes at Red Robin.
He got a new carpet remnant for his room from Grandma and Gary Pap. Even though our house has beautiful hardwood floors, he cannot truly appreciate them. All he wants is carpet. Sometimes his sensory things get the best of him!
Doh made him a WVU Big XII cake.
And gave him rolls of dimes, Grandad style.
And as is tradition, Ted on his birth day and all the cakes Doh has made over the years.
Happy Birthday, Kid! You're the best!
