the new house

A month ago we closed on our new house. We spent 3 days painting the bedrooms and cleaning and then we moved everything. We spent 5 more days in an obsessive craze to get everything unpacked and semi-settled. The basement is all cleaned out. The garage is usable. The bunk beds have been delivered. There's only a few things left to acquire that will have to wait. So here's your virtual tour of our new house.

Sophie's room before:

After - we painted it a beautiful pink. The picture at the end of her bed is the castle Ted drew in art class that I framed. Her room is small but the bed we have is perfect. That's the bed/dresser my dad built for my brother 30 years ago.

 

 

Ted's room before:

After - we painted it a blue/gray that I love. Those are the bunkbeds my dad made that my sister and I slept in all our lives. Millie is his new roommate as there's not room for her in our room. He's a happy kid. We are in need of a dresser for him.

 We have a porch turned sun room. This was with the seller's stuff in it. Notice the nasty carpet and primed particle board.

We painted it one shade lighter of the color in Ted's room and put in a new piece of carpet that we got CHEAP!

It is definitely a multi-purpose room for us which is great b/c it doesn't have to be all over the rest of the house. It serves as coat closet/play room/offfice/exercise bike holder. Please excuse the mess and the dead looking dog. She isn't doing too hot on the wood floors with her leg and prefers to fling herself on the carpet. We hope to get a ceiling in this room and maybe more suitable walls in the fall.

 Dining Room - I'm hoping to get rid of the china cabinet or buffet and be able to squeeze in the piano my parents are waiting to give me. Plus we've never had a dining room we could use. My like Ikea table and chairs don't really fit. If you're even getting rid of a dining room set, let me know. Or even chairs. For now, it is what it is.

Back deck/yard:

The garage - Ben hung up his dart board in there and he's making it a regular man cave! 

I don't have a picture of the park that is essentially our back yard. It's amazing. I'll get on that. Walk out the back gate into the alley, cross the street and ta-da! A city park the size of a city block. It's awesome! Plus we live in a neighborhood which we together, or me ever, have never lived in. Before it was over 100 degrees this week, we would take a walk/scooter ride around the neighborhood every weekend. 

We love our new house. We've had more people over in the past month than we have in the 2 years we've lived in Morgantown. This is definitely the place for us!
