Thursday was our last day and my birthday. We did Animal Kingdom that day which I'm glad we did. It was a little slower of a park (we were tired - notice the circles under Sophie's eyes get bigger and darker by the day) and it closed at 5:00 pm. So that gave us time to go to Disney Springs for dinner and still get back to our hotel to pack at a decent hour. This is also where I pulled the "birthday card" when they didn't want to go to the two shows and were slightly more whiny than the other days.
Sophie really enjoyed Animal Kingdom. She is a total "noticer" of everything. So the walking trails that were zoo-like and the safari were total treasures for her. Ted just wanted more fast rides.

A hippo swimming . . . .
And a few lounging . . .
The gorillas were especially cool. Sophie listened for a long time to the keepers talk about the smaller gorillas and how they interacted with each other.
Flamingos.
Giraffes. Sophie and I did the Safari 3 times.
Baloo & King Louie
The Everest Expedition roller coaster was great! Sophie and Ben got front car and she had no idea what she was getting into. She rode all the roller coasters but didn't care to do them again.
Ted would do them all day.
The Tree of Life in the middle of the park.
The Festival of the Lion King. LOVED this. And the Finding Nemo show - wow!
Other highlights included the Dinosaur ride and the primevil whirl.
Oh and face painting
We loved Animal Kingdom!
After Animal Kingdom we had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe which is pretty cool.
And hit up the Lego Store at Disney Springs.
Then we hit up the giant Disney Store for them to spend their remaining gift cards.
All in all, Sophie picked up a Sven stuffed animal, Ewok keychain,
Minnie ears, earrings and a Tinkerbell doll. Ted got himself Star Wars
figures, Mickey Slippers, Mickey slippers, and a make-your-own light
saber. I think that's pretty good to cover birthdays and Christmas this
year.
And then they crashed. Every night we slept hard.
After 12 days in Florida, we finally came home on Friday. It was a yucky rainy day that made it so much easier to leave. We sat on the runway for an hour while some pretty big storms passed over.
My expectations were so high for this trip. We saved and planned for so long. And it was all I hoped and so much more. We laughed hard, made a lot of memories and really just played hard for 5 days. I'm so very thankful
