Thankfully, there was a large piece of furniture that they could play inside . . .
Monday was Day 0 at camp. The June Assignment Team left in the morning and we arrived around lunchtime. We couldn't get into our housing until 3pm so it was a long afternoon. This is the kids watching their own personal dvd players for awhile. We walked and played and then got settled. Work Crew and Summer Staff are learning their jobs. Kirk and Ben made videos and unpacked their endless tubs of costumes, supplies and props.
400 campers will be arriving today from all over the East Coast. Many who have never set foot on a camp where people serve them, where they have more fun and laugh harder than they have in a long time, where they will eat food made from scratch and stay in places that are more like a resort than camp, and will be shown the love of Jesus. We have about 100 staff and volunteers ready to give them the best week of their lives.
