unemployed & homeless

Well, I'm living the American dream. Unemployed and homeless. We have been "homeless" since June 6th. We sold our house in the most amazing fashion - to a dear friend of mine who had been looking for a house for over a year. It was such a blessing to the both of us. So, we moved out on June 6th. Derek & Lisa Godwin were amazing generous to allow the 4 of us to move into their basement and share their first floor. We had a great time living there. Truly.

We gave known Derek and Lisa for about 8 years. We had 3 of their 4 kids in Young Life & WyldLife. Our ties run deep and weave in so many ways. They are great friends and our goal was to still be friends when we left. I think we succeeded. They love our kids and our kids certainly love them. Both kids loved their two dogs, Jake & Kobe, and the cat Sassy. Ted fed the animal every morning and stretched everyday with Jake. Sassy loves to be fed a lot and Sohie did just that. Derek played a lot of basketball with Ted. And we had great late night talks with Derek and Lisa. It was fun.

The kids with Derek the morning we left for camp. He had just gotten back from the beach and Lisa and Connor were still there.

The basement living room.

Ted and Sophie's "rooms". Ted slept out in the open. Sophie slept in the closet under the stairs. It fit the pack-n-play perfectly. Don't worry - we always put kids in the closet when they are still in cribs with a fan. They are entirely too nosey and sleep a lot to be out in the open.

Lisa's "trailer furniture." While we were living there, Lisa ordered furniture online and had it delivered. Derek had to put it together. It was hilarious. Lisa hates it. But it is comfortable.

So, we lived there. And now we're at Rockbridge. After Rockbridge we'll move to Morgantown. Ben and I were both done with our church jobs on July 1st. I'm gonna be honest and say that I'm enjoying not working - at least for the time being!
