another whirlwind weekend

We had another whirlwind weekend after a whirlwind week. We got home late Monday from the wedding weekend and had a short week with Ted's pre-op appointments on Thursday. Friday we spent in Bridgeport at their second WyldLife of the year. It was a big hit for jr. high kids and Ted, too. Saturday morning we got up and tailgated for a couple of hours before the Louisville game. Always fun seeing everyone.

Uncle Andy and Aunt Courtney made it up for their first game. Slackers.

 We left when the game started, came home to change clothes and drove to Charleston. We got there in time to drop the kids with a babysitter, go to dinner at Tide Water with friends and then go the Chris Tomlin concert. I love, love, love his music. He's an incredibly talented song writer. Definitely a great night. We picked up the kids and headed back to Morgantown around 11:00 pm because was speaking at South Ridge Church Sunday morning.  Between the deer and exhaustion, it's a miracle we made it home in one piece. Ben did a stellar job Sunday morning and we topped the weekend off with bible study and Leadership. Whew!

Thursday we had Ted's pre-op appointments. We met with the neurosurgeon and talked through the entire surgery, what he expects if all goes as planned and what could go wrong. Reality check.

Dr. Collins' office called yesterday and said there was a problem with the scheduling. So they rescheduled the surgery for November 28th - which really threw me off. That's 10 days past what we've expected. But they called back later in the afternoon and rescheduled again for Monday, November 21st. He didn't want to push it so far back from the original date and they had to rearrange other people to do it. I'm not sure what that means. But thankful to have it back to the week of Thanksgiving and no school for Ted and a slow week for Ben. So now I'm re-planning. And thinking. And praying.

In other news:

The weather has been absolutely perfect the last week. We've had a few good walks on the rail trails.

Sophie puts on her helmet every time she gets in the van. I guess she doesn't trust my driving.

Ben usually sneaks in a 20 minute nap when he gets home or after dinner.
He just happened to have a pillow pet and blankie this time.

And then Sophie joined in.

Ben and Ted made a thankful tree. Everyday this month we each add a leaf of something we're thankful for.  It's been really fun to do as a family. I want to think of a monthly project to do. I know it's a lot but it's good to reinforce things. I'm looking at the 252 curriculum to find a monthly project to do as a family.

Day 2 of the thankful tree. It's much fuller and looking really awesome. Everyone's leaves are really special - and real. Ted is pretty particular about doing fall colored leaves. Sophie's are usually multi-colored in any color but a fall color. I'll make a list for the end of the month.
